YOUNG BUT MIGHTY

TOP was formed in May 2008 to further increase public awareness of humanitarian issues throughout Southern Indiana and beyond through performance art, art education, and other artistic opportunities that includes people of all backgrounds and artistic experiences. 

 

TOP Timeline:

  • January 2010: TOP outlines the "4000 Hour Initiative" that calls for the TOP ACT Players to donate more than 4,000 hours of time, energy, and effort to other local non-profit organizations to beneift the greater public good.
  • November 2009: TOP begins production/directing work for Stone Belt Arc's "I Am You" theatre program as part of TOP's ongoing "Expression Exploration" Education Outreach.
  • October 2009: TOP begins its Double One-Act Feature 2009/2010 Season with a performance of Project SF: "The Science-Fiction Fair"; H.G. Wells' The Invisible Man and Karel Capek's R.U.R. - Rossum's Universal Robots at the John Waldron Arts Center Rose Firebay in Bloomington, Indiana.
  • September 2009: TOP conducts its second school-break and after-school Education Outreach program, "Interpretive Interactions" at the Pinnacle School in Bloomington, Indiana.
  • June 2009: TOP begins a 10-week "Artist-in-Residency" theatre workshop at Stone Belt Arc. in Bloomington, Indiana, as part of TOP's "Expression Exploration" program for community members with developmental disabilities.
  • May 2009: TOP hosts its Inaugural Annual Meeting to celebrate the achievements and successes of its Inaugural 2008/2009 Season.
  • April 2009: TOP concludes its Double One-Act Feature Inaugural 2008/2009 Season with a performance of Project E: "The Euripides Revival"; Medea and The Trojan Women at the John Waldron Arts Center Rose Firebay in Bloomington, Indiana.
  • February 2009: TOP continues its Double One-Act Feature Inaugural 2008/2009 season with a performance of Project L: "Ladies of Lust"; August Strindberg's Miss Julie and Oscar Wilde's Salome at the John Waldron Arts Center Rose Firebay in Bloomington, Indiana.
  • January 2009: TOP conducts its first school-break and after-school Education Outreach program, "Drama Discoveries", at Girls Incorporated of Monroe County.
  • November 2008: TOP's Founding Board of Directors holds its first board meeting
  • October 2008: TOP begins its Double One-Act Feature Inaugural 2008/2009 season with a performance of Project I: "The Ibsen Revival"; Henrik Ibsen's A Dolls House and An Enemy of the People at the John Waldron Arts Center Rose Firebay in Bloomington, Indiana.
  • September 2008: TOP is recognized as a non-profit arts and education organization by the State of Indiana.
  • August 2008: TOP performs Project X: Peace on Terror, by local playwright Albert Powell, in Bloomington and Indianapolis, Indiana, during the Indianapolis Theatre Fringe Festival.
  • May 2008: Theatre of the People (TOP) is organized and incorporates as a non-profit arts organization in Monroe County, Indiana.
